Welcome to my world

Tim Booth's Home Page

Welcome to my home page. My name is Tim Booth, and I'm now getting incredibly old (or at least it seems like it occasionally) - over 42 in fact.

As many people know, I have recently spent a while travelling over the last couple of years, and I have placed a few photographs here (click the link).

I've gotten married to a wonderful American woman in 2010. I've disabled the wedding link now, if you were still looking, but it was a great party.

I've been working in the IT industry, mostly in communications and such, for about 40 years. It seems to move ever faster, and more new bits appear all the time, but I still keep up, and am now writing in an eclectic mixture of C++, C#, Java and Javascript with occasional nostalgic(?) looks at mainframe assembler. I run my own company - Rumberti Limited - which is currently specialising in web based services. See Members-Systems.com.

As well as working, I do quite a few other things. I'm currently Assistant Group Scout Leader and Group President for the 1st Finchampstead Scout Group, which seems to take up quite a lot of time.

An equal amount of time seems to be spent on orienteering. I run for Berkshire Orienteers. As well as the actual running, I do quite a lot of the organisational side, and seem to end up doing all the club computing.  I have provided computing and entry services for many events, from small colour coded events up to major events, including the British Championships, the British Schools Championships, the World Championships 1999, the World Cup 1999 and the Jan Kjellstrom International Festival of Orienteering in 2003.

Speaking of computing, I do quite a bit of hobby computing, and have been on the Internet for quite a time, originally as part of the CIX conferencing system, but now in my own right.

For all those sad people who are looking, even though I come from Manchester and my name is Tim Booth, I am nothing to do with James, know very little about them, and detest their music. Please don't send weird fan e-mail messages.
